A growing number of individuals in western cultures have varying degrees of gut dysbiosis, an imbalance of good and bad bacteria in our small intestines (for more info on this subject, check out this post). We as humans rely on the bacteria in our gut to digest and process much of our food for us, liberating important vitamins and minerals for our bodies to absorb and utilize. When our guts are in dysbiosis, the good bacteria are in short supply, and many of the nutrients liberated by these good bacteria go undigested and pass through our bodies without reaping the benefits. We rely heavily on bacteria to digest plant foods (cellulose) for us. This is why juicing is important, especially for people who may not be in the best digestive health. Juicing is a healing practice - heal yourself from the inside out.
