Cacao & Maca Root Smoothie Bowl

This smoothie bowl tastes like a dream. It’s so creamy, fruity, and has a hint of chocolate that certainly won’t go unnoticed but is not too overpowering. I’ve added maca root powder to boost the nutritional value as well as adding a slightly nutty flavour with pairs well with the cocoa powder.

Maca root is known for enhancing energy, stamina, fertility and sex drive. It is found natively in Peru but has become much more popular in recent years as superfoods become trendier and trendier. It has incredibly high amounts of vitamin C, Copper, Iron, Potassium, Manganese and Vitamin B6. It is also low in fat and a good protein source. I suggest adding anywhere form a teaspoon to a tablespoon of maca to your smoothies, banana breads, muffins, and other hearty bakes or sweet treats. Read more about the benefits of maca root here.

Topped with all of my favourite toppings, there is just something so satisfying about creating a picturesque smoothie bowl. Now I do not believe these flowers are edible, so if you are planning on eating all of your toppings you may want to opt for some edible flowers or none at all.
